Voice disorders
Therapy for voice disorders is one of the speech therapy services I provide.
What is a voice disorder?
From time to time, everyone experiences some sort of voice difficulty. This could be the result of a heavy cold or laryngitis. However, for some people, the difficulty can persist over a longer period. The voice may sound persistently hoarse or you may find that you cannot speak as loudly as before. In some cases the pitch of the voice may have dropped or become excessively high. You may feel out of breath when talking or you may feel that your voice gets tired towards the end of the day. If you think you have a voice difficulty then we may be able to help.
How do I arrange voice therapy?
If you or your child have a voice difficulty then it is necessary for you to be seen by an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) consultant before we can begin any therapy. This is important in order to rule out any potential medical difficulty with the voice box.
I provide voice therapy for both adults and children.
If you have not already been seen by an ENT Consultant you can contact me for advice and I may be able to make the referral on your behalf.
